Well, it’s official. The Twilight sequel is coming, and it’s coming quickly. Nevermind the change in the director behind the project or the reports that the script is in a very basic form right now. Summit Pictures wants to strike while the proverbial iron is hot, so they are putting a rush hour on New Moon, the second movie/book in the Twilight series, and they’ve announced a release date less than a year away.
A November 20th, 2009 release date for New Moon has been announced by Variety, who points out the sequel won’t enjoy the cushy, uncrowded release date it had this year. Next year alone will pit the movie against Sherlock Holmes (with Robert Downey Jr.), the untitled Three Stooges project, and the animated Planet 51. Things get worse if Summit stays the course into the following year, when they will once again find themselves up against a Harry Potter movie - provided Warner Brothers doesn’t adjust the boy wizard’s final chapter’s release date like they did with this year’s chapter.
I don’t quite understand Summit’s push to get a sequel in theaters as quickly as possible. It seems like Twilight fans would rather have a quality movie over a rushed second chapter. Then again, I thought fans would be disappointed in the adaptation of the first book and I was wrong about that. Maybe more Twilight adventures as quickly as possible is just what the fans want.

I've learned some fans are just not well versed in what a quality movie is. lol
But the rushed nature of 2nd and 3rd adaptions could be its down fall. If not done appropriately. And they seem to want to maintain a similar budget impossible with the demands of New Moon.
