I have officially become a Geek! and I am proud of it!!! On Sunday, for the first time, me and my family along with my friend Jumi and her family visited DRAGON CON... all I can say is WOW! If I though I was a geek then I was wrong, these people are the true geeks! and I say it in the most respectful way, I was impressed to see the commitment to their cause, their dedication to their craft and the love they feel for the characters and stories that the world of SciFi has brought us in the last 40 years.
From Vaders to Potters, the Marriott in downtown Atlanta was full of excitement, with so many interesting things to see and do and most importantly with so many people to meet.
I got to meet Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and I had two of the most memorable experiences of my geeky life:
1. We got to see and hear the talk given by Justin Chon (Eric Yorkie) and Peter Facinelli (Dr. Carlile Cullen)
It was AWESOME! The guys couldn't be more cool. While Chon is a bit quiet and subtle, Facinelli is outgoing and funny; he kept making fun of himself as he keep running off the subject and talking too much. We got to hear what they think of the movies and what they like about their characters most.
Facinelli talked about all the cool fight training they are doing for Eclipse and how we will all be impressed of how much butt Esme will kick in the movie.
This experience has left me even more desperate to see New Moon seeing that they mentioned they had already seen it and they thought the audience will LOVE IT!
and 2. We got to MEET DRACO MALFOY!
I know this is not Twilight related, but I also know a lot of you are huge Potter fans just like me so I HAD to share this!
We stood in line and my daughters got to meet him and take a picture with him...They were both shaking and I think for a moment they stopped breathing and as I can't help but cry for everything I ended up sobbing watching them get so excited. What a sweet boy! He shook their hands and waved them bye and told them thank you for liking him so much.
Later, during the talk he gave, he explained all about the Harry Potter set, his friendship with the cast, his music, the fun they have and what the future holds for Harry, Ron, Hermione and Draco.
This was a day to remember. I was having an out-of-body experience. I had met Draco Malfoy and seen Dr. Cullen, I had say hi to Princess Leia and had walked through Middle Earth, and so, slowly, by the end of the day I realized there was no coming back, I had, in the deepest sense of the word, become a True Geek ;)
